7.2. DESCRIPTION OF THE BASIC ROPE EXERCISES

PRACTICAL As mentioned above, heavy rope exercises can be done either "statically" or "with foot movement". For example, the practitioner while using his hands to move the ropes, may be in a seated position (static exercise) or do side-to-side movements with his hand movements.   The movements of the rope can be
  • either linear (up - down, right - left),
  • or circular (outward, inward, clockwise, counterclockwise)
  • and be done either by moving both hands together (simultaneously), or alternately.
Most practitioners use heavy ropes to do an exercise called Alternating Waves or tsunamis. In this exercise, which is the most popular and perhaps the most used one, the practitioner holds both ends of the heavy ropes (the rope in the middle is past the hook) and performs alternating hand movements up and down, so to form a ripple pattern.
